Trial Agreement

This agreement begins as a trial adoption contract on the date of signing. After 10 days, it will automatically convert into a permanent adoption contract unless the adopter notifies Take Paws Rescue and their assigned foster coordinator of their intent to cancel before the 10-day trial period ends.

We understand that dogs need time to adjust to new environments—and adopters need time, too. That’s why we strongly encourage using the full 10-day trial before making a decision. Many dogs just need a little time and patience to begin showing their true personalities. If you’re feeling unsure at any point during the trial, please communicate that with your foster coordinator as early as possible. This allows us time to make return arrangements and avoid last-minute emergencies. If we’re told everything is going well until day 10, only to be notified that the dog must be picked up immediately, it puts unnecessary strain on our foster team and resources.

Trial Cancellation

If the trial is canceled within the 10 day trial period, a full refund will be issued minus a $50 administrative fee. However, if the adopter would like to be matched with a different dog from Take Paws Rescue, that administrative fee will be waived. We will hold the full adoption fee and apply it to the next trial contract once it begins, and the 10-day trial period will start over with the new dog.

* For dogs that will need more time to settle in, as identified and communicated to you by our team as such, returning the dog in less than 5 days will result in an administrative fee of $100.
